This one-hour video is for utility line workers, electricians, and contractors potentially exposed to electrical arcs and power line contact.

Dr. H. D. Peterson and Allen L. Clapp, P.E. discuss major types of electrical injuries and medical treatment, using graphic photographs of electrical burn victims of all ages before, during and after treatment. Appropriate prevention measures are also discussed.

OSHA 1926.416(a) requires you to inform employees potentially exposed to electrical arcs or contact with power lines of the consequences of not avoiding those potential hazards. If this graphic discussion of electrical burn injuries and treatment doesn't encourage your employees, nothing will.

This discussion is designed to motivate your employees to limit their exposure to sources of electrical energy, carefully plan any activities around electrical power lines and apparatus, and execute work plans safely. It also helps to explain to injured personnel and others why certain treatments are used and how successful rehabilitations can be — even after catastrophic injury.
