The electrical contractor has called and needs an available fault current for your commercial project at the new mall. He needs it this afternoon for the electrical inspection.
Doesn't that send a panic shiver up your spine? If you're like many of us, it's either been a long time since you've done this calculation, or you do it so seldom that you have to re-learn it each time.
Even if you make cheat sheets up for yourself to remember how to do the calculations, you still have to look up transformer and cable data to make the calculations. Teaching technicians how to do the calculations is difficult. Once they learn how, you still need to check their work. Electric Distribution PowerPak is just the tool for you and your employees.
Electric Distribution PowerPak is designed for the electric utility distribution engineer or technician to quickly calculate single-phase and three-phase secondary voltage fault currents, voltage drops and voltage flickers due to motor starting on radial systems. The program is applicable for systems with three-phase wye-wye, delta-wye, wye-delta, or delta-delta transformers and single phase transformers. Balanced loading is assumed. The program will calculate the fault current, voltage drop and voltage flicker at each meter base location and the fault current and voltage drop at the transformer secondary spades. The user can also generate a fault current quote letter for mailing to customers or local electrical inspectors.
The simple and easy-to-use drawing palette allows the user to graphically design the secondary distribution system from transformer to meter base. Underlying the simplicity of the program are a complex graphics engine and robust calculation algorithms that provide the user with a higher level of performance productivity. Untold hours of manual calculations and potential human error are eliminated.
In addition to the graphical design and results screens, the program includes table data for checking input values and viewing results.
